Volunteering provides a great opportunity to help others learn to enjoy nordic skiing, and allows you to meet other like-minded people.

At KNSC everyone is a volunteer, so feel free to offer assistance in any area. In particular people often volunteer in the following capacities:

  • Trail Work
  • Grooming
  • Telephone Tree
  • Cabin Keeper
  • Performance Ski Instructor
  • Jackrabbit Instructor
  • Event Facilitation
  • Cabin Maintenance
  • Photography for the website
  • Writing for the newsletter and website
  • Newsletter production
  • Website maintenance
  • Wood Splitting

In addition to all of the great volunteer work by our members, the volunteer Directors and Executive Members attend monthly meetings to plan and address business arising at KNSC and handle the following responsibilities:

  • Secretary — Records & distributes the minutes of meetings; and monitors & responds to email, phone and written messages and requests.
  • Membership — Processes all membership requests; and maintains membership database.
  • Events — Coordinates all social events.
  • Trails — Organizes, manages and participates on grooming teams.
  • Publicity — Liaises with local media, organizations & retailers; and plans & coordinates media events.
  • Cabin Keepers — Establishes contact with Cabin Keepers and organizes schedule.
  • Treasurer — Handles all financial responsibilities of the club including bank deposits, payment of all invoices, reconciling bank statements, preparing financial statements, managing short term deposits, and preparing tax forms.
  • Ski Patrol — Represents the Canadian Ski Patrol System, Kawartha Patrol.
  • Special Olympics — Liaises with the Special Olympics Association; sets the date for the event; and organizes volunteers to assist during the event at the club.
  • Performance Skiing — Coordinates performance skiing clinics and time trials; and liaises with local ski coaches.
  • Jackrabbits — Processes Jackrabbit registrations, coordinates Jackrabbit program and organizes instructors.
